what's new

New features, fixes and improvements to Anar, and where you tell us what comes next.

What should we build next?

Request a feature, suggest a change or tell us what's broken. Most of what's below started as someone's idea.

What kind of request?

A real person on our team reads every one.

  1. v0.3

Anar has a home on the web

getanar.app is live. Join the waitlist, hop into the community chat, or bring your restaurant onto the map before launch.

    New

    • getanar.app. A spinning globe of the cities we're mapping, a walkthrough of how Anar works, and a waitlist for early access.

    • For businesses. Restaurants, grocers, butchers and cafés can claim their spot and get found by people searching for halal near them.

    • Community chat. A WhatsApp group where early users trade spots and shape what we build.

    • This changelog. Every update in one place, plus a form to request features straight from the team's inbox.

  2. v0.2

    Reddit, food blogs and collections

More places to find great halal food, and better ways to keep track of it.

    New

    • Reddit in your feed. Local threads about halal spots now show up next to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, with a filter of their own.

    • Food blogs. Write-ups from food bloggers appear in Around You.

    • Halal Meat category. Find butchers and halal meat shops, with a new All filter to see everything at once.

    • Collections. Group saved places into lists and send them from the new share sheet.

    Improved

    • Saved places on the map. Anything you've saved now shows a bookmark pin.

    • Fresh category artwork. 3D illustrations across the map, Passport lists and Scout.

    • Scout. Progress rings and quests to give your next food run a goal.

  3. v0.1

    Your passport, everywhere

The first build of Anar: a map of halal places, a feed of what your city is eating, and a Passport of everywhere you've been.

    New

    • Passport. Every place you visit, your reviews and your XP, synced to your account so nothing's lost when you switch phones.

    • Community Lens. Videos and photos from the community in one place, with direct photo uploads.

    • Trusted in your city. See real people near you whose taste you can count on.

    • Ranked reviews. After you review a place, see how it stacks up against nearby spots of the same kind.

    Improved

    • Search. Recently visited places replace video results, and recent searches are tidier.

    • Feed filters. TikTok, Instagram and YouTube chips use their logos, and your selected filter jumps to the front.
